Adiembra Senior High School: A Beacon of Excellence in Ghana's Western Region

Adiembra Senior High School, located in the western region of Ghana, has emerged as a shining example of academic excellence and exceptional leadership. With a student population of 2500, comprising two-thirds female students, the school has made tremendous strides under the guidance of its visionary headmaster, Mr. William K. Takyi (Papacy).

The school's staff strength of 148 members, including 99 teaching staff and 49 non-teaching staff, has been instrumental in driving its rapid growth and success. The dedicated team has worked tirelessly to create a conducive learning environment, resulting in impressive academic/sports achievements and infrastructural development.


Infrastructure Development

Adiembra Senior High School has witnessed significant upgrades to its campus infrastructure, including the construction of an ultra-modern infirmary, headmaster's office, staff room, visual arts studio, and other facilities. 

These improvements have enhanced the overall learning experience for students and provided a comfortable working environment for staff.



Academic Achievements

The school's academic records are a testament to its commitment to excellence. In the 2023 WASSCE, four students achieved the remarkable feat of scoring all A1's, while over 10 students obtained 7 A1's. The school recorded an impressive 100% pass rate, with 173 students obtaining aggregate scores between 06-15, 382 students between 16-24, and 142 students between 25-36. Only 12 students (1.6%) obtained aggregate scores above 36.

Subject-wise performance was equally impressive, with 20 subjects recording 100% quality passes out of 28 subjects. Core Mathematics saw 442 A1's out of 764 registered students (No candidate scoring F9, E8 or D7.), while Geography had 149 A1's out of 160 students (the others 11 been; 3 absent, 4 B2 and 4 B3). English Language achieved its first-ever A1, with 7 candidates excelling.


Inter-School Competitions

Adiembra Senior High School has made a name for itself in inter-school competitions, winning an unprecedented 8 out of 12 trophies in recent events. The school's soccer teams (boys and girls) have been dominant, with the boys' team winning for three consecutive years and the girls' team winning twice in three years. 

The school also excelled in basketball, cross-country, and volleyball, emerging as overall champions in both boys' and girls' categories.


National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ)

Adiembra Senior High School has made history by qualifying for the National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) for the third consecutive time, a feat never achieved by any school in the Western Region in the past 5 years. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students, teachers, and staff at Adiembra SHS. Their commitment to academic excellence has earned them a reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the world of science and mathematics.

If Rome wasn't built in a day, then I can boldly tell you Adiembra Senior High School - Adisec, wasn't built in a day too but through the blood and toil of some great men By: Jan Matti Mawunyo Meet Mr. Ebenezer Nelson , the current Headmaster of Adiembra Senior High School, a man of version, a man who can see in million-light, way ahead. The man who has put mother Adisec in the race for the best school in Takoradi (Western Region). As he always says, “Go to Porters and GSTS, they are doing it and so can we. A headmaster who always motivates his staffs, especially the teachers and does not joke with his students’ academics. A man of sports and a man of good taste for development.
